I have learned a thing or two about summer libations. The first thing I learned is that every time I post a photo or recipe of a refreshing beverage on various social media platforms, it gets lots of social media love. Y’all are excited about summer libations, is what I’m saying. Which is what gave me the idea for the Liz’s Favorite Summer Libation contest.
The second thing I learned about summer libations is that it’s a lot of trouble to post a recipe with a photo, and it’s getting close to summer, and who really wants to bother with that, right? Then there’s all that worrisome legalese and whatnot.
So…here are the details on the NEW- And- Improved Liz’s Favorite Summer Libation contest:
We’re all still working together on a cocktail menu for John Glendawn over at the Pirates’ Den. But I’ll post photos and recipes that are candidates for the menu. Y’all “like,” comment on, share, tweet, pin, et cetera the ones you find interesting. The recipes with the most activity in the weeks leading up to each summer holiday or special occasion will be included in the menu (along with others Liz especially likes). Everyone who commented, liked, shared, tweeted, pinned, et cetera the winner will be entered in the drawing for that holiday. We’ll give away one prize for each summer holiday/special occasion: Memorial Day, Father’s Day, Fourth of July, and Labor Day. And of course, Liz’s very favorite cocktail will be featured in LOWCOUNTRY BORDELLO.
What are the prizes, you ask? Beach totes or bags filled with Stella Maris swag and beach necessities. Photos of a representative example to come.
Cheers, y’all!
Susan
* No purchase necessary. Void where prohibited. You must be 21 to enter. Swag winners will be chosen at random and notified via this blog and email if provided. Prizes not claimed within fourteen days will be forfeited and a new winner drawn. Giveaway rules may change at any time at my sole discretion.
Hi Susan! This sounds very exciting. I hope you have gotten settled in your new home. Have a great summer!
Hey Marysue! Thank you–I hope you’ll find a few refreshing beverages you like! We are mostly settled, but not completely. Maybe by the end of the long weekend…
I hope you have a great summer as well!
Sounds good to me!
Hey Susan: Her’s my favorite summer drink — Tequila and Mountain Dew Code Red, also known as Red-Dew-Quilla. Not only tastes good, but also looks great — all red and bubbly. The alcohol is a depressant, and the caffeine is a stimulant, so they balance each other out and you stay mellow even if you do get drunk.
Phil, I remember that! And I’ve been meaning to try it. Tasty, pretty AND simple for summer–you gotta like that. Thanks for sharing it!
My favorite summer beverages include citrus. Any drink made with lemonade suits me perfectly. I love an “Arnold Palmer” with a shot of Limoncello. Or begin with Limoncello and add rum or vodka, or both (hehe) and lots of slices of citrus in a tall glass with tons of ice. Ummm.
Love your books so much.
Have a great summer.
Cynthia
I love citrus drinks in summer, too, Cynthia. Thanks so much for reading! I’m so happy you enjoy the books!
I hope you have a great summer, too–with lots of refreshing citrus beverages.:)
Susan,
When will your latest book be out. I’m so anxious to read it. Am so happy that I discovered them through Facebook and have read all of them. Please hurry with a new one! Have a wonderful summer!!
Hey, Laura! The next book in the series, LOWCOUNTRY BONEYARD, will be coming out April 15. There’s a longer-than-usual delay between books this one time so we could get me switched to spring releases. I’m so sorry for the delay! There should be (at a minimum) a new book each April going forward.
Thanks so much for reading! I hope you have a great summer!
I’ve got one that requires a special ingredient! Mom’s favorite Southern treat was a Cherry Phosphate soda! You take 4 ounces of maraschino cherry juice or liqueur and add soda water to make 12 ounces, and add 4 shakes of Horsford’s Acid Phosphate. Shake with lots of Ice and put a maraschino cherry on top! Tastes so good you will think you’ve died and gone to Heaven!
Lynn, I will have to try that one–thanks for sharing! We could all use a taste of Heaven. 🙂
What a fun contest! 😉
My favorite simple, summertime Skinny Margarita is a mix of Scales brand, no carb, no sugar, Margarita mix and a and a shot and a half or two (oh why not?) of Milagro Tequila over crushed ice.
It’s awesome!
Suzie, I am a fan of most anything with tequila. 🙂 This one sounds both refreshing and guilt free. It will surely get a try at our house!
Of course my favorite summer drink is Charleston’s own firefly Vodka and Sweet Tea.
Naturally, Betty! Love these. The problem, though, is that you forget you’re drinking liquor. So good! 🙂

That sounds fantastic–thanks for sharing! And thank you so much for reading! 🙂
Love your drinks. I am a margarita girl myself.
I want to try the Susan’s Dark ‘n’ Stormy. I don’t drink much, but reading about all these drinks is making me thirsty. I do like gin and tonic with lime wedges, winter and summer.
Love your books, so happy I found them, could you write a little faster? as, I am having Liz and Nate withdrawals! Thank you kindly.
LOL! Kay, I promise I am working on it! Thank you so much for reading!
I’m waiting with anticipation for the newest book in the series!
Easy, easy libation
Grey Goose Vodka over crushed ice and mixed with the ICE drink of Mango/Tangerine. It is so refreshing and takes 30 seconds to make. Make as strong or weak as is your preference. ENJOY!
Hey, Laura!
I can’t wait to get it out! Thanks so much for reading!!
Wow, this sounds like a perfect summer libation. Easy to make and easy on the calorie count. 🙂 I will definitely give it a spin–very soon. Is it happy hour yet?
Cheers!
Susan
I am so excited to read your books!
My girlfriend told me about a Dirty Girl Scout; hot chocolate with Dr. McGillicuddy’s Mentholmint Schnapps. It tastes like the Girl Scout Thin Mint cookie.
Why couldn’t you adapt it to chocolate milk/Schnapps over ice for the summer?
🙂
Summer = Gin and Tonic. Mmmm but I’ve been enjoying looking at the recipes you’ve been posting and that Pink Bikini one may become a reality soon! 🙂
Sweet Tea Vodka – yum!
Bourbon slush was our summer drink for many years. Need to find that recipe again.
Sunsplash would keep my glass full.
