Y’all, I promised myself I wasn’t going to share any more sad news. There’s been a good bit of it over the past three – four years, and I’m mindful that you have troubles of your own and no need to hear about mine. And yet, because I’ve shared things in the past, I feel it’s only right to let you know about major developments.
Recently, Dad entered hospice. He passed from this life into the next early on the morning of Monday, May 19. We are forever grateful for the folks who kept him comfortable, and for everyone who participated in his care throughout his illness. Of course we are devastated by our loss, but we’re also comforted that he and Mom are together again. And I am equally thankful for the words of kindness and support that many of you have offered up during this difficult time. Y’all mean so much more to me than I can ever properly express.
Naturally all of this this has been a significant interruption in my writing schedule, but my editor and I are moving forward with TROUBLE’S TURN TO LOSE in the weeks to come and I still expect to launch the book this summer. In fact, I plan to have a firm launch date to announce very soon. So please stay tuned for that!
In happier book news, there’s a brand new Liz Talbot Mysteries bundle available in my bookstore for anyone who might be new to the Liz Talbot Mysteries Series! You can now read Lowcountry Boil, Lowcountry Bombshell, Lowcountry Boneyard, Postcards from Stella Maris, and as a bonus, Big Trouble on Sullivan’s Island all in The Liz Talbot Mystery Series: Volume One. Right now this bundle is available in ebook format. I’m also working on a print version of this bundle which will be available soon. And if you missed last month’s announcements, then I’m pleased to let you know that the second edition of Lowcountry Boneyard is now live everywhere in all formats, including audio! Look for the second edition of Lowcountry Bordello in early November.
Next week in The Lowcountry Book Club, Susan Zurenda and I will chat with Mary Alice Monroe about the May Book of the Month, her brand new release, Where the Rivers Merge. Most months we post our discussion videos on Thursday mornings, but this month we’ll be sharing the chat on Friday morning instead. Mary Alice is on quite the book tour, and she was kind enough to make time to chat with us. Please be on the lookout for the video on Friday, May 30th, at 10:00 a.m. Eastern instead of Thursday, May 29th.
Finally, fellow foodies, I hope you enjoy this month’s recipe! This is actually my spin on my mother’s salmon patty recipe. This is comfort food in our family. My sister and brother and I all loved my mother’s salmon patties, and my brother and I have each developed our own versions. (My sister avoids cooking when possible, but she’s actually pretty good at it.) We really enjoy this one at our house, and hope that you do too. I typically serve them with rice, lima beans and corn, and roasted sweet potatoes. If you try it out for yourself, be sure to let me know what you think.
