Private Investigators Liz Talbot and Nate Andrews have worked their share of domestic cases. So when Tammy Sue Lyerly hires them to find out what her husband is hiding, they expect to find something looney but harmless. After all, this is the guy who claims to have been a DEA agent, a champion bull rider, and a NASCAR driver. But when he turns up dead the morning after Liz and Nate deliver the incriminating photos, Tammy is the prime suspect.
Questioning the truth of Zeke Lyerly’s tall-tales, Liz and Nate race to uncover small town scandals, long buried secrets, and the victim’s tumultuous past to keep Tammy Sue out of jail and the case from going up in flames.
Praise for Lowcountry Bonfire
“This rip-snorter of a mystery gets off to a hot start...and there’s tons of fun in these giddy pages...Anyone who is looking for a vacation from the grim and the grisly can’t do better than to cozy up with Liz Talbot and her ghostly sidekick Colleen.” –Mystery Scene Magazine
“Boyer has a way with the narrative that wrapped me up in a cocoon filled with Southern charm and mayhem…the pacing fits the tempo of this enticingly intriguing tale where the mystery was executed nicely…Boasting a superb cast of characters, engaging dialogue and a small-town atmosphere, this was one of the best book in this wonderfully endearing series.” –Dru’s Book Musings
“A fun read and I enjoyed it immensely. I love all the side characters and the chemistry between Nate and Liz is undeniable. I can’t wait for the next book.” –Pacific Northwest Bookworm
“Lowcountry Bonfire is sure to be a mainstay at beaches and barbecues this summer, and for good reason. Susan M. Boyer has crafted a smokin’ hot story that burns from first page to last, leaving an unmistakable blaze of glory in its wake.” –CriminalElement.com
As always, this was a fun read. I like Liz as a character to follow, and her relationship with Nate is still romantic without the romance getting in the way of solving the mystery… It is Liz that we follow, and she always leads her readers to interesting places and cases. I’ll be back in Stella Maris for the next book in this series, Lowcountry Bookshop. –Reading Reality
This is without a doubt one of my favorite cozy mystery series. I love the characters, I love the setting, and above all the mysteries are always fantastic. This one is no exception. There's no waiting around for the action to start here as in the first pages Tammy Sue is setting her husband's beloved car (with his belongings packed in it of course) on fire. –I Wish I Lived In A Library
