On Prequels and Launch Day Preparations

With summer waning and Labor Day just around the corner, I can hardly believe that I’ve reached the home stretch of preparing The Sullivan’s Island Supper Club (forthcoming) for launch and that we’re now less than one month away from release! Edits are complete, the audiobook is in production, and the launch party is scheduled. I am beyond excited to hear what you all think of this book and am quite anxious to have it out in the world in just a few more weeks.

If you’re anywhere near Greenville, South Carolina, on September 12, I hope you’ll join us for the launch party at Fiction Addition and the Wine & Design next door. Tickets are available here, and include a copy of the book, an appetizer buffet with food from the book, and celebratory beverages. I so hope you can make it!

I have a few other appearances scheduled, but unfortunately not as many as I’d like. This tour will be abbreviated so I can pivot back to writing for my spring release–stay tuned for more information on that, and check out the complete list of confirmed events by clicking here. I am hoping to add a stop somewhere in the Mount Pleasant / Sullivan’s Island area, but the timing is tricky.

In other news, I have a bit of a surprise to share! As I was wrapping up the edits, it became necessary to cut a few scenes from the book. This always disappoints me, but it was best for the book and I always want to publish the best version of a book that I possibly can. Fortunately, the deleted scenes are now available as a short prequel of sorts, which I’ve titled Beginnings – The Sullivan’s Island Supper Club.That is now available exclusively as an eBook in my store and at all major retailers. But please note, if you’re new to the Carolina Tales series, I highly recommend that you read Big Trouble on Sullivan’s Island first.

Also, there is a Goodreads Giveaway happening for copies of The Sullivan’s Island Supper Club (forthcoming) if you’d like to try and win one! Ten signed print copies are available, and the contest runs through Monday, September 16. Good luck to those of you who enter!

Who Could Use a Kate Spade Tote?

So, that’s an unfair question, I know. Most of us could probably use a new Kate Spade tote, even if it’s just to tote around books we want to read while waiting at the airport, doctor’s office, or car repair shop. Week 7 – Building Liz Talbot’s Charleston Getaway

I’ve been so excited about this week’s planned addition to Liz Talbot’s Charleston Getaway Weekend because it’s a visit to someplace I personally love, and of course that means Liz does as well. I’ve been planning all along for the next-to-last prize in the package to be dinner at FIG, which is one of the remaining restaurants mentioned in Lowcountry Boneyard.

The meal that Liz and Nate have in the book–Jim and I have sat at that exact table and relished that dinner. And it is divine.

But…that’s not to take anything away from the long list of other fabulous restaurants in Charleston. There are so many to choose from.

Whoever wins this package and his/her spouse, significant other, friend, mother, sister, or whoever, their choice might not be my choice. And my choice varies depending on my mood. It’s virtually impossible to pick a bad restaurant in Charleston. The winner might be in the mood for Magnolias, Husk, High Cotton, Charleston Grill–or any one of dozens of possibilities. Maybe they would like to go over to Mt. Pleasant and eat at one of the Shem Creek restaurants.

Or maybe they want to enjoy the sunset at Bowens Island and have some oysters….

Last night as I was drifting off to sleep, I decided to make this week’s prize addition a Visa gift card for $250. The winner & guest can use it to go to Fig and have the meal that’s in Lowcountry Boneyard (or any other delicious thing on the menu) or choose any other restaurant they like. If the winner is in the mood for a more low-key dinner, she/he can use the remaining money on the gift card however she/he chooses.

These photos were taken from my favorite spot in the little courtyard out front. (The first one actually faces the Mills House across the street.)

Check out their website for photos of the lovely Victorian home turned restaurant, and the food–oh my stars–the food. My mouth is watering right now.

For me, Poogan’s Porch is one my go-to restaurants. I love going for lunch when the weather is nice. Everything I’ve tried is delicious, but I especially love their macaroni and cheese, fried chicken, and biscuits.

If the winner’s email address is available, she or he will be contacted by email. Each entrant is responsible for monitoring this blog and his/her e-mail account for prize notification and receipt or other communications related to this sweepstakes. If a potential prize winner cannot be reached by Administrator (or Sponsor) within seven (7) days, using the contact information provided at the time of entry, or if the prize is returned as undeliverable, that potential prize winner shall forfeit the prize. If a potential winner fails to comply with these official rules, that potential winner will be disqualified.

No substitution or cash equivalent of prizes is permitted.
