Welcome!
This is a group for readers who enjoy novels set in the South, in particular the South Carolina Lowcountry, coastal Georgia, coastal North Carolina, and thereabouts, with a few other beach reads thrown in for good measure. It’s fine to discuss books set in other places in this group. Since we share a love of beach books, it’s likely our overall reading tastes are similar.The group focus is on what members are reading, what they want to read, their favorite books, the settings, and anything related to these books. Posts about the places the books are set, food in the books, and any other related topic are welcome.
I envisioned this as a place for readers who aren’t on social media or who are looking for an alternative, but everyone is welcome. Much of the content I post here is a duplicate of what I share in the Facebook group, The Lowcountry Book Club.

Has social media changed the way y'all read? I've been introduced to so many new authors that I might never have discovered otherwise.

Yes, I, too, have discovered authors I never knew about and read books I never would have been aware of before. It's always fun to see what types of books others are reading.
Social media introduces me to so many new and interesting authors, some of whom have become my new favorites! I am not so fond of the Facebook “hops” and having to revisit a long list of author sites to try to find the drawing winners. But I love scrolling through Instagram and especially enjoy when my favorite authors recommend another author.
Yes, I believe so, because some of my favorite authors also recommend other authors via social media that I otherwise probably would have never heard of.
Social Media has introduced me to several new authors, and because of this I came across the genre of cozy mysteries. I am a mystery lover from way back in my Nancy Drew days. When my life is stressful and I can't focus on the 500 page novels, the cozy mystery fits the bill and allows me the respite reading provides.
Social media has introduced me to several new authors. I enjoy hearing what others suggest and their reviews. I do get tired of Facebook though, so this is a wonderful option.
I love seeing the recommendations from other authors and readers. I started taking screen shots of these recommendations and have a separate photo album for my "to be read" pile!
Yes, I have read so many books recommended in the Low Country Bookclub on Facebook that I wouldn’t have known about, or might not have picked up in a bookstore had I not read others’ recommendations.
Yes, mostly through some Facebook groups focused on mystery authors, and publishers' Instagram pages.
I tend to read even more now!
